"Il n'existe pas un son unique de la rave. La rave change souvent de sonorité, selon sa localisation géographique ou son époque. Forcément, une rave anglaise ne présente pas la même musique qu'une rave française du début des années 90 ou une rave de Goa du milieu des années 90 ou une rave actuelle en Afrique du Sud. Mais le sommet du genre date définitivement du début des années 90 et cd CD mixé en est un reflet fidèle. A travers seize titres, " Wellcome 2 the rave " rassemble certains des plus grands noms de l'esprit rave, qu'ils soient DJ's ou producteurs, très souvent les deux. Cette compilation n'est pas non plus un Best Of car il aurait été simple de rassembler les plus grands hits des producteurs choisis. Souvent, l'idée de base a consisté à présenter certains titres moins connus de Jeff Mills, de Slam, de Joey Beltram, de Laurent Garnier ou de Frankie Bones sans pour autant verser dans l'obligation de la rareté. Des producteurs plus récents comme The Hacker, ou Dave Clarke sont aussi présents. " Wellcome 2 the rave " est un disque qui résume beaucoup plus qu'un son ou une époque. Il synthétise une impression, un feeling, une chose très subtile et pourtant puissante.
